"I love this food for my Boston Terrier, he's 3 years old nearly 4 and this is the best raw food for his stomach. It's so easy to prepare and he finishes it all and licks the bowl clean every meal. He loves the Pork, Beef and Lamb & Salmon." - Pichsinee

"Sassy is 9 months old and has never really been interested in kibble. Itā€™s been a struggle to find food sheā€™ll eat, but she gobbles up her Frontier Pet Food! I used to have to convince her to eat meals but with Frontier, she eagerly awaits her food and licks the bowl clean every time!" - Suzy M.

"I highly recommend their food if you have a fussy pet or a pet with a delicate belly. Frontier has completely stopped all of Norton's tummy issues (and gas!) which has occurred on multiple difference foods. Norton's energy is more consistent and less everywhere. He LOVES all the flavors and gets excited when he sees the food coming." - Jasmine

Frequently Asked Questions

How to transition your pet to Frontier Pets freeze-dried raw food?

If your pet has been on a diet of dry kibble and/or processed wet food, itā€™s important to transition gradually to raw feeding as a complete balanced meal.* Raw food is digested differently from processed food. Transitioning too quickly to raw feeding can cause stomach upset. Ā

Similarly, if your pet is used to dry kibble or canned food, they may be fussy with raw food at first, so gradually introducing raw food will help their taste buds adjust.Ā

Start with 20% Frontier Pets Raw Freeze-Dried food and 80% of your petā€™s ā€˜usualā€™ food. Feed the 20/80 ratio for 2-4 days; if there are no major concerns, adjust the ratio to 40/60 for the next 2-4 days. Increase Frontier Pets by 20% every 2-4 days until you feed 100% Frontier Pets food as a complete balanced meal.Ā

This guide only follows general Vet advice for transitioning to raw feeding. However, every pet is unique and may transition at a different pace. If you have concerns, itā€™s best to contact your Vet or Animal Health Specialist. Learn more aboutĀ how to transition to raw pet food.

*Frontier Pets Freeze-Dried Raw Pet Food can be used as a complete balanced meal for 100% raw feeding, or as a Topper for a raw nutrient boost to their usual meals.Ā

Why is raw better than cooked food & kibble?

Many pet owners are interested in understanding the differences between kibble and raw food. While kibble is a convenient option, it often contains processed ingredients like grains and byproducts. Ever wonder what's in your pet's kibble? Check out the video.

At Frontier Pets, we believe in simple, whole-food ingredients. That's why our food features free-range, raw meat and organic produce, carefully chosen to provide complete and balanced nutrition for your dog. This is how Frontier Pets food is made.

Here are some of the benefits of feeding your dog a raw food diet:

  1. Better nutrition:Ā Raw dog food contains all the essential nutrients that dogs need to thrive, including proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. It is free from fillers, preservatives, and artificial ingredients that are commonly found in commercial dog food.Ā
  2. Improved digestion:Ā Raw dog food is easier for dogs to digest because it is not cooked or processed. The natural enzymes and bacteria in raw food help to break down the ingredients, making it easier for dogs to absorb the nutrients.
  3. Stronger immune system:Ā Raw dog food is rich in antioxidants, which help to boost the immune system and protect against disease and illness. Additionally, raw food contains higher levels of vitamins and minerals that support overall health and wellness.Ā
  4. Better oral health:Ā Chewing on bones and raw meaty bones helps to clean teeth and promote healthy gums. This can lead to fewer dental problems and improved overall oral health.
  5. Increased energy and vitality:Ā Dogs fed a raw food diet often have more energy and vitality than dogs fed commercial dog food. This is because raw food provides a more balanced and nutritious diet that supports overall health and wellness.Ā

It is important to note that a raw food diet should be carefully planned and balanced to ensure that it provides all the nutrients that dogs need to thrive. If you are considering switching to a raw food diet for your dog, we can help you. At Frontier Pets, weā€™ve done the research with Dr. Kathy Cornack, our resident holistic vet and animal nutritionist.

Our recipes are designed to support a healthy, balanced diet. We use human-quality free-range meat, eggs, and offal, along with certified organic, imperfect fruit and veggies.ā€Æ

What is raw freeze-dried dog food?

Not all drying processes are the same. Freeze drying is a cutting-edge technology that removes moisture from food through a multi-stage process.

First, the dog food is frozen at extremely low temperatures. Then, the pressure is lowered to create a vacuum, causing the ice in the dog food to sublimate (transform directly from a solid to a gas) without ever reaching a liquid state. Because the food remains frozen for much of the process the food has much less heat than other drying methods. Consequently, this gentle process minimises damage to the food's cellular structure, and results in less loss of delicate nutrients, giving a product that retains its original qualities much better than air-dried food.

Nutritionally, freeze dried dog food retains essentially the same nutrient quality as fresh, raw food.

How long does raw freeze-dried dog food last?

Frontier Pet food boasts an impressively long shelf life of up to 2 years in it's original packaging and 3 months after opening.

This often leads to the misconception that it is laden with preservatives.

However, this isn't true. Frontier Pet foods and treats are free from preservatives; they simply don't require them. The freeze-drying process removes all moisture from the raw dog food, resulting in a very low moisture content. Moreover, the 'water activity' level in the food drops below the threshold that would allow any micro-organism to survive, preventing spoilage. Of course, once water is reintroduced, the situation changes, and the rehydrated food should be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
