New Look, Same Great Food!

Rest assured – our recipes have not changed. From time to time, we update the nutritional panel on our recipes based on the latest laboratory analyses we have undertaken.

Frontier recipes are comprised of healthy, wholefood ingredients such as muscle meat, organ meat, vegetables and fruit. There is natural variation in nutrient content across animal proteins and seasonal variation across ingredients, so nutritional analyses will vary somewhat over time. Our new, expanded nutritional panel aims to provide pet owners with a guaranteed analysis for each recipe.​

Natural ingredients vary in composition so it's normal for the analysis of products to also vary with higher quality ingredients. ​

Pet parents often ask if our food has to be fed as a complete diet, or can it be used to supplement other meals. While our recipes provide a complete & balanced diet for pets, our food is also perfect to use as a meal Topper to boost the flavour, variety or nutrition of other meals.

We have now added a feeding recommendation for using the food as a Topper to our new packaging to make it easier for our pet parents to feed Frontier Pets as both a complete & balanced sole diet, or as an occasional meal Topper.

In order to comply with the nutritional guidelines, set out by AAFCO, a very small amount of vitamin and mineral supplement is added to our recipes so that they ensure a nutritionally complete and balanced meal for dogs and cats. ​

‘BARF’ is an acronym which stands for “Biologically Appropriate Raw Food”.  The BARF model is based on the idea that our dogs and cats should be fed a raw diet that is comprised of food that they have evolved to eat.  From Frontier’s inception, the recipes have been based on the BARF model, comprising of muscle meat, organ meat, bones, vegetables, seeds and fruit.  We have updated our packaging to reference BARF, allowing pet owners to make educated decisions about their pet’s health and wellbeing.​

We have completely revamped our packaging based on your valuable feedback! We heard you, and we've made some exciting changes to create a better experience for our customers. You'll now find more detailed nutritional and ingredient information right on the pack, so you can easily understand exactly what's in our product. We've also made feeding instructions clearer and easier to follow, taking the guesswork out of mealtime. And to top it all off, we've introduced a convenient new box bottom pouch, making storage and serving easier than ever. We're confident you'll love the improvements!

The product weights of our products have not changed. We have however changed how we communicate the product weights 'on pack', to make it easier for our customers. We now have the weight of the dry food as well as the weight of the wet food (once water has been added). For example, a 300g bag of dry food, will make 1.2kg of wet food when mixed with water as per the 'Wet Feeding' instructions on pack.

Frontier Pets freeze-dried pet food is as close to fresh as you can get with a dried pet food. It is also has a very low moisture content.

Consequently, when the bag is opened, the product can start to absorb moisture from the air. Moisture can affect quality, mainly in terms of odour which can affect acceptability for the animals and for the owners. In the interests of having the best quality feed for the animal, a shelf life of one month has been suggested. After this time, the product will still be safe, but possibly less acceptable from an organoleptic perspective.

If the pack was immediately re-sealed and stored in cool, dry conditions as per the 'Storage & Handling' guidelines on pack, then the product will keep its high quality much longer than one month.​
