Frontier Pets survives Covid with award winning dog food!

It’s been a big year for the team here at Frontier HQ!

Off the back of Covid19, there has been a dramatic change in the shopping habits of Australian residents as more and more people turn to online shopping. In a recent survey completed by CMO (one of the worlds leading research agencies) 25,000 Australians were surveyed to find out how Covid has changed the shopping behaviours of Australian residents.

“The pandemic caused a mass migration to online channels, particularly as lockdowns swept across the country. And the appeal of online shopping is far-reaching, with 28 per cent of those who prefer to shop in-store acknowledging they will now also shop online.”

Here at Frontier, we’ve certainly felt the shift, just 5 short years ago, Tony and I were literally living in the freezer!  After putting everything into the business – our house, super, savings, everything, we lived in the freezer until we got everything up and running.  We then migrated to a caravan because the freezer was being used to freeze things!  Within a year we were able to move to an actual house.

Frontier Pets is based in the Northern NSW regional community of Evans Head and have been operating from this location since July 2017. With a population of just 2500 residents, we are delighted to now be one of the biggest employers in this small community; We now employ, train and upskill 26 people and have thousands of customers all around Australia.  I have to pinch myself sometimes when I look at all of the people running around, busy on various aspects of the business. It’s quite amazing – and really quite humbling.

It seems the sacrifice and hard work really has paid off. Following on from our massive success in 2019, Frontier Pets are yet again shortlisted in three categories for the Business NSW awards this year. This is a terrific accomplishment and we’re so proud and delighted to have been selected.

“Business NSW is delighted to recognise Diana Scott and Frontier Pets as a Finalist in the Excellence in Trade, Construction & Manufacturing and Excellence in Business (20 plus employees) categories as well as the Outstanding Business Leader Category in the 2021 Northern Rivers Business Awards.  This is well deserved recognition for the Frontier Pets team based in Evans Head and a wonderful opportunity to recognise Diana Scott for her determination, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit during a time of change and growth in Australian manufacturing.”  Jane Laverty, Regional Manager Business NSW Northern Rivers.

And, it’s not just within NSW that Frontier Pets is gaining recognition. We are currently nominated for a host of awards nationally, including.

Australian Small Business Champion AwardsFinalist in 3 categories

Clean & Conscious AwardsFinalist in 2 categories

We’ll know the outcome of the awards on the evening of October 23.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.

It’s been a big year for Frontier, and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible customers, most of who have been with us from day one. We want to thank YOU; your support has been extraordinary, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
